hyakki, I have ATI card and tried your settings with 2175 and 2340: both are very broken. No video, gfx garbage around screen, no text. The best I can get is when no video options checked at all. But still some gfx garbage (much less) and no text.

I suppose shaders are broken for ATI? Or it's ATI broken for shaders lol.

By the way, I'm no gfx coder, but I though since OpenGL is open and stuff there shouldn't be so much difference between Nvidia and ATI, can it be drivers?

Not sure whats wrong with ati/amd , but it looks like alot of opengl programs (even outside jpcsp) has problems with these cards, from reading other peoples posts it seems like some drivers work better then others.

you could try lwjgl 2.8.0 that was just released looks like it might have some amd fixes, just replace the matching jpcsp libs & dlls with the ones from lwjgl

I doubt it will make much difference though.

I haven't tried anything of the new builds for some time as I don't check this topic all that much. Incase it helps, my PC specs are:
Compaq Presario CQ61
AMD Athlon II Dual-Core M300 2.00 GHZ
64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium
3.00GB RAM

Any recommendations for software or upgrades to fix the issues I have previously moaned about i.e. text in speech boxes and missing battle menus

So strange that some people have success running the game with no errors with similar components using the same settings/build. I check back everyday on this thread, just hoping for a status update from these busy devs.

Suddenly I'm back.

hyakki, thanks for your suggestions. Tried 2.8.0 lwjgl, but emu crashes at startup. Driver update didn't help either: all errors stay the same.

What a problematic title. Crisis Core almost perfect, I perfect, II almost perfect. This is by far the most broken. Even Tactics run better. Strange.

That happened to me as well with the 2.8.0 lwjgl. It still wouldn't work. I know the developers are trying everything they can to get this game working but it looks impossible at the moment if you have computer specs like mine.

Thanks for the helpful information. When I try to load the game, it ceases functioning after the Square Enix screen. Everything simply remains black. I am using a MAC that is well equipped beyond any of the required hardware. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Tested Game setting w/ Nvidia video card
[
Specific notes for this game:
ATI/AMD/INTEL brand video cards could have problems with these settings. since shader/opengl support on these cards are buggy, always try to run the latest drivers.
Video card also needs to support modern shaders for text to work correctly. (Geforce 6 or newer)
]
Code:
Video
[-] Only GE graphhics (not recommended for homebrew)
[!] Use vertex cache
[x] Use shaders (experimental)
[x] Use a Geometry Shader for 2D rendering (only relevant when using shaders)
[-] Disable UBO (automatically disabled if not supported, only relevant when using shaders)
[-] Enable VAO (only relevant when using shaders and vertex cache)
[-] Enable saving GE screen to Textures instead of Memory <- Broken graphics when used with stencil test.
[-] Enable decoding of indexed textures (using CLUT) in shader (only relevant when using shaders)
[-] Enable dynamic shader generation (only relevant when using shaders rec for AMD/ATI)
[x] Enable the shader implementation for the "Stencil Test" (more accurate but slower)
[-] Enable the shader implementation for the "Color Mask" (more accurate but slower)

Media
[x] Use Media Engine (Works only with 32bit JPCSP)
[-] Extract media files to tmp folder
[x] Decode audio files with sonic stage (you must have ss installed for this to work)
[x] Use non-native fonts from flash0 folder

Compiler
[x] Use compiler (dynarec)
[-] Output profiler into to profiler.txt (only for compiler)

[x] = Checked
[!] = Optional, use at own risk (possibly a speedup, can cause crashes / bugs, disable this first if you run into problems)
::When changing options do it before you load the game, or else you'll need to close and restart Jpcsp.::

The black screen at the beginning is from the pre-rendered movie not being able to play. You can skip past that by pressing start.

Not sure about a Mac, but on Windows you can get the movie to play by installing Sony Soundstage and enabling an option in the emulator to use it for playing media.
