I remember reading network function is operational. I can't imagine how you'd actually play, let's say, with another psp or another emulator.

Never mind. There's a thread out there discussing this. Infrastructure works okay, but multiplayer functions almost always uses ad-hoc, which doesn't work. Yet.
Be patient.
