So here is what I did, write depth and color buffer, 720x480, and 480p downscale. Decrypt dm.EDAT with
make_npdata -v -b dm.EDAT BOOT.bin 0 (Takes 5 seconds, whatever)
make_npdata -v -d dm.EDAT out.EDAT 8
and replace the old dm.EDAT with the new one.
I get the screenshots from OP, and a lot of severely broken graphics on the way. After pressing start the game hangs for a minute or two (presumably loading) on a black screen, before resuming. It's now running at about 5 fps, however the screen is black. Looking in the RSX debugger you see that it goes through several different textures at different addresses with different sizes, but they are all either completely black, or garbage:
So I guess the game is running at this point, but you neither see nor hear anything.
(In addition from OP I also get this, although it's flickering to black pretty badly, this was probably the best it looked for a frame or two.)
