Yes, I've already sucessfully broke part of the NPDRM encryption scheme for a couple of DLC files from more recent games. However, I'm still unsure about how older games used to access DLC content. Do you know any examples that I could study, please?

Oh the only game I ever bough dlc for is dissidia 012. And that was only so I could play around with the textures. I was asking about dlc for jpcsp to see if I could do it on the fly without having to send files to my psp and changing settings and what not. How far back are we talking about when you say old?

Around FW 2.00 to 5.00. Pretty much before the PGD data files started showing up. Most of the DLC content now use this encryption too, but with a slightly different header.

does 5.00 also include the slightly newer ones? disgaea 2 uses 5.55 firmware, and its dlc is in edat format (PSPEDAT header) so i dunno if it's any help.

I'll ask some friends if they got any games with dlc from that far back and get back to you.

Yes, that's it. Although by firmware 5.55 only very few games use that format.
