Question about SonicStage

Is it really required? I understand it's for decoding the audio but you have Xuggler, which uses ffmpeg. ffmpeg supports decoding atrac3. Is there some limitation in Xuggler that prevents this from working?

Sonic Stage is needed for atrac3+ (plus) , ffmpeg is used for atrac3
