Toukiden - NPJH50789
#1
This game was tested with JPCSP v0.7 r3407 and PPSSPP v0.9.1-2308-g9cfd882. The original game (Ver 1.00) shares the same problems with Toukiden Trial. A type of error that often appears in the game is the lines that show up in random locations when the resolution of JPCSP is greater than 1x. Another type of error is when the user attempts to use Multiplayer Mode. The game thinks JPCSP is a PSP-1000.

When I try to test an updated game of Toukiden (Ver 1.05), JPCSP will crash after a few seconds. On a PSP, the game begins loading CHANGELOG.EDAT to show the changes between each version. Then it loads the rest of the game normally. PPSSPP can load Ver 1.05 of Toukiden properly, however due to the fonts used by the emulator, the ChangeLog does not fit within the screen parameters. PPSSPP has the same exact problems when running the game as JPCSP does (lines in random locations, recognition of emulator as PSP-1000, etc.)

This game (Ver 1.05) was tested with r3408. I tried testing Ver 1.06 of the game which was released last week, but JPCSP crashed because of an Invalid Address at 0x00000000. Even if I use the option "Ignore invalid memory access (not recommended for test reports, but improves performance)" JPCSP will still crash. There are more problems with running the updated game in comparison to running the original game on JPCSP.

Problems/Issues:
1) The text from CHANGELOG.EDAT does not fit within the screen boundaries and there are random lines and dark spots near the bullet points (greater than 1x resolution). Trying to view CHANGELOG.EDAT with the default fonts from JPCSP will show incomprehensible characters. On the PSP, there's a blue Scroll Bar on the left side near the bullet points so one can scroll up and down with the Directional Pad to view the ChangeLog. (1st - 2nd Screenshot)
2) The "X Back" should not appear on the bottom of this screen. (3rd Screenshot)
3) When creating a character in a new Save File, the character cannot be seen. (4th - 5th Screenshot)
4) The subtitles in cutscenes do not appear on time as a player speaks to someone.
5) The colors of the Exclamation Point should be slightly more blue. (6th Screenshot)
6) Every other area other than the character's house is slow. (8 - 10 FPS)
7) When changing Equipment, one can press the Start button to view their character's appearance after a change to their Armor or Weapon. However, the character does not appear on screen. (7th Screenshot) Exiting the Menu will show the preview of the character's appearance but in black and covers up most of the screen unless one leaves to another area. (8th Screenshot)
8) JPCSP will occasionally crash when one tries to load their SAVEDATA after exiting the game from the character's house.

Furthermore, the SAVEDATA generated (using Crypto) from JPCSP does not work on a PSP. When comparing the SAVEDATA between JPCSP and PSP, the file sizes within each file are the same. However, there are slight differences which probably decide the compatibility of SAVEDATA, such as the amount of lines, amount of data within a line, and data alignment in the file.

The crash seems to happen just after this call
Code:
23:22:29  INFO hle.sceUtility - user_main - sceUtilitySavedataInitStart 0x09B1FB74-0x09B20174: Address 0x09B1FB74, mode=12(FILES), gameName=ULJM06290, saveName=_SAVEDATA, fileName=DATA0.BIN, secureVersion=0
I've fixed a possible memory overflow in r3502. Could you check if this helps here?
Always include a complete log file at INFO level in your reports. Thanks! How to post a log

This game was tested on r3696. There is an error that appears during opening videos of a game and may freeze the emulator. This error can either appear during the first time the opening video is shown or during subsequent viewings. Parts of the opening video will appear corrupted as the error shows up in the log.
