I am just guessing here, but you could always unplug your USB headset, so that internal audio gets used, and see if that works. Maybe I am completely wrong here, but I do maybe remember that some game a very long time ago had openal issues with a USB headset.
Scogger is a free homebrew, the download link is on the first page of the thread about it. Just run the .elf directly with boot -> (s)elf.
Now, if you do get audio over USB in Scogger, and still get errors in this game with normal internal audio, it is definitely an error with this game. Not much you can do other than waiting for bug fixes.
