Try different combinations of depth and color buffer on and off, I got the animated part of the Disgaea 3 loading screen to smear in a somewhat similar way with the wrong combination.
Edit: Nope, doesn't work here.

Nah, just make sure the file that comes with the game is found. If you see something, that isn't the problem.
Also, this is the first game that I have seen where rpcs3 crashes upon opening the rsx debugger...

I see. Then probably Disc version BLES00948 is different as my one NPUB-30682 already come with that control folder and content-filled padmap.txt.
Write color buffers and Write depth buffer are the options that sometime required them to display graphic propertly.
