Persona 5 - Perma Freeze at certain point
#1
Hello!

Alrighty, down to business...

in Persona 5, just after a cutscene where you start to attack some enemies, the Emulator pauses the game, and in purple text I get this

F {rsx::thread} class std::runtime_error thrown: Invalid location (offset=0x0, location=0xffffffff)
(in file C:\rpcs3\rpcs3\Emu\RSX\RSXThread.cpp:139)

I've got pictures of before, and when it freezes it.

Before
After

and resuming it doesn't help, the music continues, but the image is frozen.

(Sorry I couldn't provide a video, I've no software to capture screen, and Shadowplay won't work either.) (I also can't seem to post the RPCS3.Log, my browser just loads forever.)

This is expected behavior, it happens frequently while playing persona 5.
It throws an exception on RSX thread so there's no way to resume from it, it's not a freeze, the thread actually dies

It may help to use the very latest build (https://rpcs3.net/nightly) and Vulkan with that.
Asus N55SF, i7-2670QM (~2,8 ghz under typical load), GeForce GT 555M (only OpenGL)

I just tried for 45 minutes straight and seems to work fine! With the old version, it freezed twice in less than 30 minutes Smile
I'll keep playing and report if it happen again
