Compatibility:
Video: Use Viewport

Not much has changed, still has these nasty problems with the text. When starting there is now a white screen, you have to press a key to advance further.

works with Media Engine enabled (Falcom logo is jumpy)
The two intro movies (the "text" movie and the "music" movie") are not played!

Compatibility:
Video: Use Viewport

The graphical error (the black dissortions) is fixed, the only thing remains is the malfunction of the TextureCache but that's only a cosmetical problem, once the whole text is visible it IS the real text regardless what was there before.

All in all very playable, have to test it with converted audio the next days, right now only the sound effects work

Hello fellow Brandish fans,

there are some important things I want to share with you (and the devs Wink):

After some recent changes made by Hykem the game now "shows" the intro movies (after the menu). However due some unknown bug it is not so easy to see them or get to the game at all!

Here is the correct order for starting the game, all line numbers are for the devs so they can look at this and maybe fix it.

1) Start the game and wait at the main menu about 30 secs. to let the "Idle" movie start
2) The first "text" movie is shown, it starts at ~ line 78000 and goes to ~ line 330000, the movie is skippable and it really is shown (you see the picture)
3) When you're back at the menu start a new game, skip the tutorial, after a short while the screen goes black but you can see in the logger that something is "playing", it's the same "text" movie you just saw, you could press START/Enter in the emulator to see the movie again but then it would later hang at the end where the second movie should start, the movie is not skippable (on a real PSP it is) and you have to wait about 3 mins to let the movie finish. Starts at ~ 375000 and goes to ~ 640000.
4) It then shows the "music" intro movie (it really is shown, you can see it), starts at ~ 640000 and ends at ~ 800000.
5) After this it's normal again and the game starts normally. (Both movies were skipped at earlier revisions).
6) I suggest you save at the start so you can load this savegame the next time to skip the whole waiting process.

As of this revision there are now these small errors present:

- NEW: The names of the levels ("Ruins") and the body of the soldier is missing (this must be a tricky thing, it had graphical errors for a long time before but now it is completely gone!)
- The old TextureCache bug is still present (see above for a explanation)

This error is now fixed in r1763.

There are some changes in the game:

This movie is not skipable anymore, just sit through it and watch it Wink
It is still black when played after the menu. gid15 is already investigating this and maybe he finds something.

FINALLY! Fixes in the hash function made by gid now fix this annoying display bug in Brandish and (presumably) in all the Falcom games (Sora no Kiseki FC & Ys 7 confirmed).

This revision fixed the problems Brandish had with the new introduced on-the-fly audio decoding using the SonicStage codec.

Settings: Only "Media Engine enabled" and "Use SonicStage for decoding" are required, everything else off.

With it music works now very good (including loop of the background music).

The problem with the black text movie is not fixed yet but this is not a serious problem.

Almost no changes in this game, the same small problems are still present in the game:

- The first movie is still not visible, it still can't be skipped like on the real PSP, pressing a key here still shows the video but game advances not further after the video, the workaround is still watching it during the menu-idle and sit through a black screen for a minute (but with nice music) Wink
- The second movie's audio is out-of-sync with the picture (on my machine the video is about 5-10 sec. behind)
- The yellow triangle that indicates the location later is shown too early during the ingame intro (it first should be visible when the map is shown)
- the transition just before talking with the soldier shows some strange brown background (this is a new problem, before is was just a slow transition but without strange color variations)

Code:

jpcsp.graphics.RE.REShader.setVertexInfo(REShader.java:881)
jpcsp.graphics.VideoEngine.executeCommandPRIM(VideoEngine.java:2171)
This is unfortunately only a harmless error (the AMD shader compiler has completely eliminated unused variables; this happens with dynamic shaders). I will avoid it in next release.
Always include a complete log file at INFO level in your reports. Thanks! How to post a log
